Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Roux Studios, LLC ("Roux," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Roux mobile application and related services (the "Service"). Roux is designed to help users organize recipes, plan meals, and receive guidance while cooking. Protecting user privacy is important to us, and this policy explains what information we collect and how it is handled. By using Roux, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information in several ways when you use Roux.
Account Information
To use certain features of the Service, you may create a user account. When you create an account using Apple Sign-In or Google Sign-In, we may receive information such as:
- Email address
- Your name
- A unique identifier from your sign-in provider
Roux does not collect or store passwords. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple or Google.
Content You Provide
Roux allows users to store and organize cooking-related information. Content you submit to the Service may include:
- Recipes
- Meal plans
- Grocery lists
- Ingredient lists
- Messages sent to the Roux assistant
- Images you choose to save
- Post-meal feedback such as ratings and serving notes
- Other cooking-related content
This information is stored in order to provide the features of the Service.
Inferred Preferences
Roux generates an inferred taste and cooking profile based on your activity in the app, including recipes you have cooked, meal feedback you have provided, and preferences you have set. This profile is used to personalize recommendations and is stored as part of your account data. You can view and edit this summary in Settings under "What Roux Knows."
Household Sharing
If you create or join a household, your recipes, meal plans, and shopping lists are visible to and editable by other members of that household. By joining a household, you consent to sharing this content with its members. You can leave a household at any time from Settings.
Voice Input
Roux allows users to interact with the app using voice input. When you speak to Roux:
- Audio is processed on your device using the iOS speech recognition (speech-to-text) framework
- The audio is converted into text
- The resulting transcription may be stored as part of your conversation history
Roux does not retain the original voice recordings after transcription unless required to operate the feature.
Images and Camera Input
Roux may allow users to share images during cooking in order to receive assistance. When images are submitted, they may be temporarily processed by image analysis or AI services and are used only to generate responses or guidance. Images are not permanently stored by Roux unless you explicitly save them as part of your content.
Device and Usage Information
We may automatically collect limited information about how the Service is used. This may include device type, operating system version, app version, crash logs, and general usage metrics. This information helps us maintain and improve the reliability and performance of the Service.
Analytics Information
Roux uses PostHog, a third-party analytics service, to understand how users interact with the application. PostHog receives information such as a unique user identifier, your email address, and records of in-app actions (for example, starting a cooking session, adding a recipe, or submitting feedback). This data does not include the content of your conversations with Roux. Analytics data is used to help us improve the app and identify areas where the user experience can be enhanced. You can learn more about PostHog's data practices at posthog.com/privacy.

3. Artificial Intelligence Processing
Some features of Roux rely on artificial intelligence. Your inputs (such as text, images, or queries) may be processed by third-party AI service providers, including language models, speech-to-text services, and search APIs. These providers process data only to generate responses on our behalf. We do not use your personal content to train AI models.
4. Sharing of Information

Business Transfers
If Roux Studios is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. Data Retention

9. Data Storage
Your information is stored on secure servers operated by our service providers, which may be located in the United States or other jurisdictions where those providers operate. In addition, certain data — including your recipes, meal plans, shopping lists, and usage information — is stored locally on your device to enable offline access and improve performance. This local data is managed by the app and is removed when you uninstall the app or delete your account.
